A well-respected, family-owned Tier 2 civil contractor is seeking a capable Site Engineer to support the delivery of river protection, erosion control and civil infrastructure projects across the spectacular Marlborough Sounds.

This role will suit an engineer who is confident working autonomously, practical on site and comfortable operating in remote or coastal environments.

About the Role

• You will play a key part in supporting the delivery of river works, drainage improvements and environmental civil projects.

• The position requires someone who can take ownership of site responsibilities, work independently when needed and maintain strong communication with wider project teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily site activities and support project delivery

• Undertake set-out, QA, inspections and site reporting

• Manage plant, materials and subcontractors on active worksites

• Monitor programme progress and productivity

• Maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance

• Apply practical thinking to challenging terrain and river environments

About You

• Experience in a Site Engineer role within civil construction

• Exposure to river works, drainage, earthworks or similar infrastructure projects

• Able to work autonomously and take initiative on site

• Comfortable working in outdoor and sometimes remote locations

• Practical, dependable and solutions focused

• Strong communicator and team contributor — a reliable good sort

• Passion for sustainability and environmental outcomes

• Relevant civil engineering qualification preferred
