ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY 

Rebel Recruitment is partnering with a leading Tier 1 civil contractor seeking an experienced Senior Planner to support the delivery of a major rail and transport infrastructure project in Auckland. 

This role requires more than strong scheduling capability. We’re looking for a planner who genuinely understands how civil infrastructure is constructed, can challenge and validate delivery programmes, and can work closely with project teams to develop realistic, achievable construction plans. 

You’ll take responsibility for developing, updating and managing detailed programmes using Primavera P6, including sequencing, resource planning, productivity assumptions, critical path analysis, programme risk and progress reporting. 

Working alongside Project Directors, Project Managers, Engineers and construction teams, you’ll use your practical project delivery experience to understand construction methodologies, identify programme constraints and develop solutions that support successful project delivery. 

The ideal candidate will have come through a project engineering or construction delivery background before moving into planning, giving you the technical understanding and practical credibility to engage effectively with site and project teams. 

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR: 

• Strong Primavera P6 planning and scheduling capability, including programme development, critical path analysis, resource loading and progress updates. 

• Major project experience within rail, transport or complex civil infrastructure environments. 

• Previous Project Engineering or hands-on project delivery experience, with a practical understanding of how construction projects are delivered. 

• Sound knowledge of construction methodologies, sequencing, resources and productivity rates, with the ability to test whether programmes are achievable. 

• Strong communication and stakeholder skills, able to work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, site teams and senior project leadership.
